Your first step
A clear starting point.
Tell us about your systems, record types and years of history, and what you want from a license. We review relevant buyer requirements, open questions and practical next steps.
No files or logins needed. This is an initial fit assessment, not a valuation or an offer.

What would you like to achieve?
A short description of your records and objective is enough to begin.
The licensing decision
The right partner, with terms you understand.
Buyer fit
Find a relevant partner.
We identify buyers whose requirements fit your records and objectives. With your approval, we describe the opportunity without naming your company at first.
Price
Compare what each proposal pays for.
We seek pricing for an agreed package and put the proposals we receive side by side, including payment conditions and our compensation.
Commercial terms
Understand the commitments.
Compare permitted uses, duration, exclusivity, onward licensing and the work needed to deliver. You and your advisers decide which terms work for you.
What happens next
A clearer next step.
01 / Describe
Start with the systems and history.
Tell us which systems and years you hold, who is responsible for them and what you want to achieve.
02 / Assess
Understand the opportunity.
We prepare the assessment and identify the questions that determine whether buyer outreach is worth pursuing.
03 / Decide
You decide what happens next.
If buyer outreach makes sense, we agree the scope and permissions. You review any proposal, including price, permitted uses and FirmLedge's compensation, before deciding.
Initial reply within two business days. Assessment within five business days of a description we can work from, or a note on what is missing.
How FirmLedge is paid
The initial assessment is free. Where a buyer engages FirmLedge to source records, the buyer pays FirmLedge and you pay no FirmLedge fee. We disclose who pays us and how we are compensated with any proposal. Any extraction, preparation or legal costs are agreed separately before work begins.

See a fictional assessmentAlready speaking with a buyer or considering an offer?
Tell us what you are trying to decide: buyer fit, price, the records included or the proposed terms. A non-confidential summary is enough; do not send offer documents or company files. We can discuss the questions to resolve and whether approaching other buyers makes sense, subject to any existing commitments.
Do I need to know what the records are worth?
No. Start with the systems, record types and approximate years. The assessment helps identify fit and open questions. A price would require buyer review and proposed terms; no value or sale is guaranteed.
Who pays FirmLedge?
The initial assessment is prepared at no charge. Where a buyer engages FirmLedge to source records, the buyer pays FirmLedge and you pay no FirmLedge fee. We disclose our compensation alongside each proposal. Any extraction, scanning or legal costs are agreed in advance.
What if the business is closing or systems are going offline?
Mention any known date in your description. We can flag the access questions that need attention with the systems owner and your advisers. An inquiry does not authorize extraction or replace your existing retention obligations.
Does sending an inquiry give anyone rights to the records?
No. Any later access, preparation or licensing requires separately agreed terms and the appropriate approvals. Company control, third-party rights and permitted uses need review before a release.
What about confidentiality and privacy?
A non-confidential description is enough to start. Rights, confidentiality, privacy and any preparation requirements need review before records are released. We agree the scope and permitted uses before any later access or licensing.
